References lacking the article titles

S

Hi

When I read a scientific article, sometimes at the end where the references are listed, the titles of the references are missing. How am I supposed to find these?

For example what's the title of this reference:

G. Appel, K. Bolton, B. Freedman, J.P. Wuerth, K. Cartwright, J. Am. Soc. Nephrol. 10 (1999) 153A.

?

Hey,

normally I just type a few of the authors and the year into pubmed, but somehow this doesn't work with your example.
I don't even find that publication on the journals site.
Third way would be to type it into google scholar ;)

Thanks, the Google Scholar way worked, (only after typing in only the surnames of the authors and the year 1999).

Or you just go to the website of the journal in question and look it up in their archives/use their search facility.

That said, in this case that doesn't work. The absence of an issue number and the fact that the page ref is 153A suggests maybe it was an abstract in an conference proceeding perhaps?

So this example is a little tricky but in general going to the specific journal website will probably do the trick.
