Hi all,
My research is in an area that is still very much in development, and most of the sources in my literature review are from reports from government departments and online news articles (some of them are my own sources/understanding). Is this a problem? Also how do I critically review the literature if a) there isn't much literature about it b) it is an area that is still in development?
As I have very few journal articles/conference papers I can reference to, is this likely to be a problem? Will examiners look down upon a literature review that has very few academic references?
Thanks
Chococake!
have you just started your lit review? if so then you'll probably find whole areas of research, maybe even in other disciplines that will be relevant - they may not be on the exact topic but you'll probably end up reviewing them, so I wouldn't worry.
I'd talk about the research from non-academic sources but just make you highlight why it may not be as rigourous etc. and methodological flaws.
