I am a international student and in my fourth year of my PhD studies. My first supervisor left school without any notice in the end of my second year. I waited half year to get my second supervisor who is lack of interest of my subject and cannot give me any proper advise and supervision on my study. My third supervisor is the worst, he keep discourage and want me quit my PhD ASAP because he think that I don't have the ability to finish it. Be honest, I dont have enough supervision in the past three years, and I known that I am still need to make big progress on my thesis. But, quit in the fourth year after I put so many time, money, and effort on this PhD is really not an acceptable opinion!!!
I totally understand. I am in the same situation. I have a really bad relationship and they have been pressuring me to quit too. I just want to get out..I tried to get a change but the college won't facilitate me now as I am through my 3 years. I would love to change uni and supervisor as I just want to finish. I have written all my chapters but they keep telling me its not good enough but haven't given me any reasons or help. I feel like quitting but I have come so far..it would be such a waste..Just know that you are not the only one who has this problem. Don't quit..
I am sorry to hear that you have same situation as me. Really hope that you can make through it as soon as possible. Please don’t quit, you will make it.
My story is more complex by now. Same as you, my supervisor keep pressuring me to quit without any good reason. Last week, he even filed a report “allegation of plagiarism” in the draft work on one case analysis that I hand in to him 4 months ago. He never gives me any comments on my work instead of it, such small part of footnote and quotation mistake is “Plagiarism” in his opinion, ridiculous!!! So, I have to defense this next week, don’t know what will happen.
