Hi all,
I would like to apply to study a Masters at the LSE - I work full time and already have my first masters, so this would be far more for the intellectual pursuit with some practical value.
My first masters is an Executive MBA from London Business School and am now interested in studying something different, but ideally related to business or a few social / political / econocomic interests. My main issue is that although I would like to study further, I am not sure how to narrow this down, and there are so many options which I have considered.
I would do it on a part-time basis, and have noted my interests which are specific to business (financial services/start-ups/scale) as well as how I would like to cross this over to social enterprise which also have commercial objectives if possible eg. healthcare or financial services in emerging economies in particular. I have often thought of studying something closely linked to the business I work in - which specialised in insurance for professions, or social / commercial (as I did my MBA thesis on education in a developing country).
As this is my 2nd masters and does not specifically relate to my work (though I would be happy if it did too), does anyone have any suggestions for how I refine what I would like to study as I am craving the intellectual activity that this type of studying would bring about - I do have a number of ideas for Masters in Research projects and they all seem vastly different from one another?
Should I go and see the advisers at the LSE (if there are any available?) Sorry to be so broad I have been thinking about this for a while and thought some different opinions may asisst.
thanks and regards
Felicia
Hello
I dont think you need to narrow anything down. Check out the website, if it's solely intellectual stimulation you seek, look around the courses on offer, look at the course content of the modules, the research interests of the prof teaching the course and see what your funding situation is.
The graduate open evening happens sometime in October I think, or November, whatever it is, check out their website. That will give you a rushed opportunity to meet some faculty and students and get any queries clarified.
