Hi I am trying to add alphanumeric codes & codes beginning with 0 (zero) for some of my participants. SPSS is not recognising codes that begin with a letter (eg A3456) and if a code begins with zero (eg 01234), it knocks the 0 off.
Is there anyway to retain the alphabets and zeros while entering data?

I may not be the best person to answer your question, but are you inputting it as a string variable? that way you can keep numbers and alphabets.
