i will be starting a phd in october and i cannot help feeling a bit apprehensive. a big part of me is looking forward to it all while the other bit's wondering whether i'm just a glutton for punishment. any survival tips ou there?

I have now found a house and my supervisor has asked me to work in the lab for a month before i officially start my studentship. This is going to make it a lot easier for me i think; i get to find my feet when the place isnt crawling with millions of people, and i might even get some early data!!

i'm crapping it too. i think its natural. i think once you get into the swing of things, and settle down, you'll prolly enjoy it.

oh good im glad its not just me! i have a phd place for october (conditional on achieving 2.1 obviously). and yes i am scared - very scared! but on the other hand i am looking forward to it very much - both to the work and meeting new people! hopefully evrything will turn out ok and i am sure it will for you too!
