Does anyone know what happens with student loan repayments whilst undertaking a PhD? I graduated last year, am currently working (& therefore making loan repayments), & am starting a PhD with research council CASE award funding this october (which still makes me over the £10k threshold for loan payback). I can't seem to find definitive information about this anywhere! Thanks! x
If your grant is exempt from tax (as far as we are aware this covers all full time studentship grants) then you will not need to make any loan repayments based on that income. If you are employed by the university and registered for a part time PhD you will need to continue repaying your student loan.
