i have discovered that there is a name for the way that my supervisor supervises me. How do u deal with mico managing supervisors?? have any of u had them/experiencing them.

what is micro managing?

When you supervisors make it a habit to intrude not only upon your work but also on the work of everyone around you (other PhD students, your undergrad minions etc), wandering around, peering over your shoulders, and telling you the proper way to do things.

Yep Jen, me too. Why aren't there any BALANCED supervisors out there? - it seems like it's all or nothing.

So true one of my supervisors i think is suffereing from amnesia - he has forgotten he has a PhD student.
