Hi, have been offered to me for a phd 22000 pound to tax. Can anybody tell me how much will I have to pay for taxes?I'm a foreign student , can anybody tell me(suggest a website too)how much is the spent to sustain at my arrival(insurance, bank and so on)?
It's not quite as simple as just 22% of your income. The full rules can be found on http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/individuals/index.shtml
However, it can be complex, especially for international students. I'd recommend talking to your local tax office and university money service, if you have one.
You will need to check with the people paying you the £22000 if it is subject to tax. UK students do not pay tax on educational grants. Your university may be able to advise you. Is the £22000 the total ammount or per year. If it's per year and it is subject to x then www.i-resign.com has a UK tax calculator.
