I am a part-time PhD student with approx 1 year left to complete. I applied for my first part-time teaching position today, just a general role in helping with marking and some teaching.
I would be eager to learn of other peoples experience in how they came about to get their teaching role and pros and cons. How important do you think teaching experience is when it comes to finally looking for an academic job as from what I have read even a PhD is not enough these days to secure employment in academia.
From a student with his fingers crossed.

Hi @Methodical,
When I was getting my PhD, I found part-time online teacher jobs. That is a very fast growing industry that is always in need of teachers. With this, you will be able to get more experience with teaching and will help you when looking for a full-time position. I love online teaching and it really worked for me when I was getting my PhD. Best of luck!
Paul:-)
