Hi Sneaks.
"good" to know someone else is working too.
I've been reading your posts, you've been up against it.. bet you're knackered.
Why are you writing something boring? :p
Who are you writing it for? Can you go with any format, theme etc you like?
Morning everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend.
This week, I'm going to achieve lots and make masses of progress. Fired up and ready to go!
Goals for today:
1.) Finish redraft of questionnaire
2.) Work on draft interview questions
3.) Read 2 or 3 journal articles
4.) Prepare for tonight's Annual General Meeting for a voluntary group I chair
afternoon :) How is everyone today?
Spent the morning writing out all the things that were giving me sleepless nights, turned them into tasks and organised a list to work through.
I need to work on the current chapter for the remainder of the day as I am due to give the draft into my supervisor tomorrow morning... I still need to:
Type up the studies
Draw 22 figures (yeah I know.... 22!)
The whole process has been delayed because I've been waiting for a software to turn up, and it basically hasn't :-s
Hope everyone's afternoon goes well :)
I am sorting out the final thesis, but I am finding that I never seem to finish each job. I have more figures to annotate and add, editing discussions for ch 6 and 7, refs cited to download from refworks into thesis, sort out formatting inconsistencies (noted in printed copy lol). So lots of tedious (and large goals) but essential things to finish off.
Last night I have moved from editing discussions to references as my brain has lost some motivation, is this normal in the final stages? So later I shall try to finish the refs download so I can at least tick something off my list. The funny thing is that I would love to get this submitted asap yet my motivation to complete it has gone :$ Anyone with some words of wisdom out there?
Afternoon everyone. I am back online after my OH took my mac to get repaired during his lunch break. Luckily whatever the guy did to repair it only took him a few minutes!
I am really struggling to focus today. I'm tired and feel like my brain isn't wired up properly! I have 2 deadlines for Wednesday morning so my goal today is to make sure everything is at least drafted out so that I can redraft it when I am feeling a bit sharper tomorrow. I have been working on the application form for proposal number 2, and I still need to draft out the objectives and summary sections.
The objectives and summary are now drafted out. I am finding everything a lot easier as my supervisor has sent me across a load of notes.
My next goal is to tackle the 'impact summary' section and 'pathways to impact' attachment.
Today is deadline day. My postdoc mentor is expecting drafts of my application form sometime during the day and my PhD supervisor is expecting the second set of application forms by first thing tomorrow.
My first goal is to tidy up the form for my Postdoc and email it to my mentor.
Good luck Star-shaped!
Once again, yesterday I failed to achieve everything I set out to do. I'm not downhearted though, because I did make some good progress. But today I'm going to be a little less ambitious in my goals and see how I get on.
So, goal 1 is to finish writing up the notes and vague ideas I have for my draft questionnaire
good luck star-shaped. I'm SOOOOOO busy this week!
Goal 1: read through and practice giving lecture (albeit giving the lecture very quickly!)
Goal 2: Add coding to one document.
dunni73 I think it's absolutely normal to feel the way you are feeling right now, you want it done but you've spent so much of your time on working on this that you are sick of it. Although I'm no where near as advanced as you in the thesis, I've suffered that on some of the longer papers I've written. I've wanted to just submit the darn thing, while my co-authors would be like "fix this and fix that!".
The software did arrive at lunch time (yey!) so after some battle to get the thing working properly, I got almost all my figures drawn :) yes, 22 figures, but they were very simple figures so it wasn't so painful.
Today, meeting with supervisor to get feedback on current chapter, then try and finish the drafting of the chapter off today.
