In response to Bibi's request, here is the story of my viva:
I woke up in the morning and felt physically sick cos I was so nervous, but forced myself to eat a baguette. At 1 o'clock I met some of my friends in a coffee shop near the uni and talked about random nothingness to take my mind of it. Then my friend walked me to where the viva was being held. The person who was chairing it met me outside and talked me through the process and tried to calm me down (unsucessfully). I was then taken in and introduced to the examiners and it was surprisingly relaxed. What I didnt expect was that they went through each chapter asking loads of questions. Although some of the questions were tough, some of things they said were quite helpful like "when you publish, you might want to look at this literature" etc. After 1 hour 40 minutes they sent me out of the room. To be continued ...
... Then followed the longest ten minutes of my life before they called me back in again. Everyone was smiling and took turns saying "Congratulations Dr. DJ Wickid" and shaking me hand. Then they read out all the official bits and told me about the minor changes I had to make to get it, but I wasnt able to concentrate at this point and just sat there with a huge grin on my face. Was amazing!! Then i got very drunk
Well Done, Dr DJ! All that hard work paid off! Thanks so much for thread, now we have a vague indication of what to expect. I hope you are really, really, really proud of yourself because you deserve to be. Congratulations!
