I'm currently a PhD student in Italy, but I then spent a year in the UK as a Marie Curie Fellow. My PhD is nearly completed (written 70,000 words), but my supervisor in Italy refused to read it. So I was actually thinking of getting a transfer to one of the UK university. Has anyone done that? Is it feasible? Thanks guys
Hi Nick, it sounds like you are having a tough time. What's going on with your supervisor?! Why is she/he refusing to read it? Is there anyone else who can help you through these last few stages? Have you spoken to another academic at your university about your supervisory problems?
As to the administration -- the head of my department in Italy is the former roomate of my supervisor from their university times, so I guess complaining to him won't do me any good.
The reason why I asked about the transfer is because there are quite a few Italian people who do their second PhD in the UK. I could always go for this option (the difference is that this will be my first one), but wouldn't like to loose 2 years (minimal registration)
