am so broke and i am not sure if i should carry on my PhD...am so sick of thinking about the money all the time! i heard there are few people who quit in the middle of their research. what is going to happen with unfinished research??? is anyone interested in it? Thanks.
There is no such thing as finished research, there is always something else that needs doing! ;o) Seriously though, you have the option of writing up your research for an Mphil, then you at least get a higher degree from all your efforts. Think carefully about your options though, you might regret not finishing. All the best.
I'm not sure this is available at every Uni, but during my induction at Aston yesterday, they mentioned a "hardship fund". This fund is an emergency fund available to students who may have to otherwise withdraw from their studies due to financial problems.
I would certainly contact your supervisor about these issues. He might be able to offer you some advice. Also, pop into your uni's finance office and speak to an advisor.
I wish you the best of luck with your studies mate!
