I've kept in touch with mine throughout..even though I don't start till September. If I were you I would contact them..keep in touch and show you're keen. I'm helping mine out by demonstrating in practicals and on residential field courses..a good way of getting to know them..essential if you're going to work with them.
I got the ORS and they sent a proposal for it to the UK govt. When I asked questions regarding it mine said it can be changed once I do a literature survey and find out more about it if I dont like it. So dont worry too much about the project. though as Zara says keep in touch I am, I asked what I need to study before I come he said some maths since the project has some and I am from a bilogy background.
i'll start a PhD in october as well and i haven't even considered contacting them earlier and pepper them with question about the research and what i can learn/read beforehand. i am still writing on my master thesis and have my hands full at the moment. do you guys think that my supervisor expects me to approach him and ask what i could now now?
