I applied more than one univ, but only got one offer at the moment. This is not the best one, but they keep contacting me very actively recently and it seems that they want to get everything straight on the way quickly. They will even contact ors next week, but I want to wait for some replies from some other universities. I feel ashamed to turn this univ down as well, so what shall I do? send virus to the supervisor to damage her e-mail box or computer?
I think (hope) it was meant to be a joke. Obtaining a PhD is like applying for a job. If you don't want to risk accepting or turning down the studentship now then write to your potential new supervisor and ask them by which date they need your decision by. If they want it immediately then you'll have to make your mind up. If you are a self-funded student (even if you intend to apply to ORS) then you probably have a reasonable chance of being accepted in the lab of your choice (providing your qualifications meet the minimum requirements).
Dear Shari,
The Federal Internet Crime Division that knowing sending a virus to an unsuspecting person is against the law. The maximum punishment for such a crime is 3 years imprisionment. I hope that you will consider very carefully the outcomes of your actions before deciding upon such a foolish measure.
