Hello all,
I would like ask to for your point of view. I am Phd student at Imperial and my supervisor has suggested me to go to MIT for a couple of months as visiting student because I have enough money from my scholarship to cover the expenses. The main problem that I see is that I will not have money left for conferences if I decide to travel there. What would you do ? Which is best? I have in mind to apply for a postdoc after my phd.
If you were able to visit MIT for a couple of months, that would give you lots of opportunities of meeting people (potential postdoc opportunities). Is there a fund you can apply to for conference funds? Usually there are a few things like this one can apply for. I think the MIT visit sounds very promising especially if your supervisor is willing to help you set you up with someone over there.
