If you are not the brightest student but you are from a very good college.

You applied for a PhD, got offer that only pays your tuition fee and research consumables..
But the lab is incredibly good and has good reputation.
The only bad point is they don't pay you salary.
But you are able to pay that anyway because you have enough family resources.


They required you to answer them within a few days and you already said yes...

And I don't know if there are anybody out there who is trying to not depend on their parents by finding your own way and try to ask for their money as little as possible?

Can you share experience maybe? I just feel like a failure to still be dependent on them...(although I am still quite young)
