i am a first year. i am in teh process of writing papers. Currently, my supervisor says: I want you to submit a paper into xxxxxx conference and expects me to write it. I know this is somethign that we are meant to do...but at the moment I dont know the aim of the paper etc etc or the aim of my phd. I don't know what she wants from me...
I understand what she wants in teh meetings but when I go back and think it through - i feel she was talking crap.
I am a bit stuck with a horrible tummy achie and a silly proposal to write :-(
Writing your first paper is rather daunting but it does get easier as time goes by. The way I tackle it is to write out the structure of the paper followed by bullet points under each section and then...
Read papers written by your supervisor and peers to get an idea of how to write. Also perhaps you can start with a poster or a short paper first.
