A phd studentship has come up not far from me, however I only have a 2.1 undergraduate degree. It states a first/2.1 undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (I have) and/ or masters.

I have volunteer work experience which I could relate to the phd, but is it worth an application or will it hit the reject pile without a msc?

If it does say 'and /or masters' then it is the bachelor's that is moot, not the masters.

Eds is right if it does say 'and / or masters' then you'll need a masters. But I'd apply anyway.
