First time posting here, but been a long time lurker. I have now received a firm offer from UCL to start a PhD studentship. The start date is end of September, I was wondering if its possible to request to postpone the start time until the beginning of December? This is due to a personal situation. Has anyone done this or this is possible at all?

Usually yes but it depends. If you have a legitimate reason they are usually understanding and can delay you to the next intake. Though depending on the university there is only 3-4 intakes a year, so you might have to wait until January.
