I hope you guys are doing well. I am currently working at two community colleges, but this Fall 2016 I will start my PhD in Hispanic Linguistics. This means that I have to move to another state and quit my two part-time jobs. For the first two years of my PhD I suppost to take 3 classes and teach 1 as a TA every semester. However, this past month I got a call from the Dean of one of the colleges, and he is offering me a Full-time position with an excellent pay. From your personal experience what would you do? Should I go for the PhD or the job? Thanks in advance.

This is a question that only can answer! Reading into your post it sounds like might be a tiny bit reluctant about the PhD and maybe a bit more in favour of taking the job?

What are your longer term goals - e.g., what do you see yourself doing in 5 years time, or 10 years time? Will you be able to progress with the job (offered) to the position you want, or will you need a PhD anyway? Even if you need a PhD, you might decide that you like the idea of the job so much that maybe you'll do a PhD later. There's no limit on age (although maybe later you'll have more commitments...). How passionate are you about the PhD/TA route? These are all things to consider : ) Hope this helps a bit!

I think Tudor Queen covered this perfectly well. As she (?) says, this is only a question you can answer. I think the best place for you to start is to really discover what you want. There is no right or wrong answer here, it is just about the path you wish to take. You can do exceptionally well via the PhD route, and you can do exceptionally well via the jobs route.

I think Tudor Queen raises all the important questions, my advice would be to sit down with someone you trust, someone who knows you well, and to run these questions passed them. I find it very helpful to have someone to bounce ideas off of.
