I have an interview next week for a funded PhD studentship. The project looks perfect for me and is an area that I am really excited about and invested in. It involves a strong quantitative component and therefore before the interview, there is a "practical task on research methodology and statistics" that will take 30min.
Does anyone know what this might be? My best guess would be that they give a research question and ask for a basic research and analysis plan?
I have a good level of statistics but it's the uncertainty as to what it may be that's stressing me out! Any ideas?!
Well the interview went well and I received an offer so thought I would come back and add to the topic in case it helps someone else one day!
It was for a Psychology PhD and the exam involved interpreting effect sizes in meta-analyses, a few simple stats questions (identifying the correct test to use), a question about longitudinal modelling and one on interpreting data by "eyeballing" it.
It is a heavily quantitative PhD though, so don't panic if you're invited to something similar, it may be easier or less technical.
