Hello!

I am currently finishing a master's degree and am about to apply for a PhD position for the first time. This is a very special opportunity that really has everything to do with what I want to research, so I want to make sure my application stands out.

I have never written a statement of research interest before and all the templates I find on google are wildly different in terms of scope, length and content.

Would anyone with a social sciences background be willing to share with me their statement of research interest or give me any tips on how to write one?

Do you already have your research idea and are just trying to write it up in a statement? If so then does this help at all?

Also do you have a prospective supervisor already? They should be able to share with you some successful applications from previous students. That can be really helpful.
