ESRC 1+3 Quota award

M

I am currently having to edit down my research summary to 4,000 characters for the ESRC application. Quite how they thing you can sum up pretty much 4 years of planned research I am unsure but I've pretty much done it. I have been given one of my departments quota awards and wondered if anyone on here knows if that means it's a dead cert for me now? The elation of being given the award was dampened by someone who said the ESRC can still turn it down :( Any guidance?! Thanks

M

Hi Mek,

It is clearly indicated by ESRC Quota, outlet/dept' decision is final. i think you should not have any doubt about it as long as you fulfil the eligibility criteria (residence status).

Anyway, some depts ask candidates to fill up the ESRC form before the selection process, but in other case, depts ask only successful candidates to fill up the ESRC form (i.e. Cambridge). I am waiting for such feedback from Cambridge.

Would please tell me what is your case.

Thanks

Hi Manuk,

Thank you for that.

I had to apply to my department at the selection stage with my research proposal. These were then short listed based on merit and we had to attend an interview from which they made the final decision. I then received a congratulations email with the offer of one of the 1+3 quota awards.

It is obviously me worrying for no reason! I know I have no concerns regarding eligibility but my main concern is that the editing process has meant losing a lot of the information about the research.

Hi Mek,

I have also received an ESRC 1 + 3 and, as far as I am aware, it is the Uni's decision and the ESRC just "rubber stamp" it. So no need to worry!
