Hey guys,
I am looking for some advice here, since I am facing a trouble. I graduated from the University of Bedfordshire (2010) with a 2:2 in Psychology, then went to work in the army, then did my MSc (same uni) in Health Psychology(2013), then went to work within a multinational company for two years, and now I am working as a research assistant (voluntarily) at the same Uni. I have applied to some funded projects, but with no luck. My main problem is that even though I have work experience they seem to focus a lot at my 2;2 ( I wasn't a bad student, but since I am diagnosed with Dyslexia and in combination with Uni life, things went, well, downhill.)
I don't want to promote my dyslexia as an excuse for my 2:2. I am wondering if anyone with the same situation could give me any tips or advice on how to find a funded phd in Europe (preferably in the UK since it's the place I was educated from.)
Funding from uni's (uni scholarships/departmental scholarships) is an option and from those lower in the league tables, or that are smaller and more remote (i.e not many applicants, thus increasing chances). The UK university I am at, one of the former, is rather easy to get in on Uni funding compared with other places. Someone I know got his PhD place at my uni with a 2:2 and a pass on both his masters (this is in 'human geography' btw). He was a reserve candidate however, and also never had an interview!
What did you get from your MSc? I'd imagine that grade to be at least as important as the undergraduate grade.
Hi fredminxis, what is your uni? I am looking for a PhD vacancies with merit in Master degree. Thanks alot!
