I have checked websites of several universities and it seems that there is not any difference between "PhD taught" and "PhD Research" in UK. Is it like that?

I mean, Isnt there any difference between tuition fees of "PhD Research" and "PhD Taught"?

Claudia is right, while some PhDs have a taught component (especially the newer 4yr ones), a PhD is a research degree and as such primarily involves the undertaken of novel research.

The odd university does offer a taught PhD. Lancaster for example in Ed. Research dept is one that springs to my mind.

IIRC, educational doctorates aren't quite the same thing as a PhD as we know it (as you say, they are more like a high level taught courses than research degrees).
