How are you? I am a postgraduate student of Guangzhou Univ of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. I major in the integrated Chinese medicine and western medicine. I have got the double majors of Health care and rehabilitation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and clinical Chinese medicine. In 2005, I have developed the first Chinese Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Quality of Life Scale in China and then got the certification letter from Mapi Research Trust (France). I have been invited to attend the 12th ISOQOL annual conference held in San Francisco. Then I have written an English manuscript about the adaption and application of Chinese IBS-QOL in China and now this article is in submitted. I have been working on a research project about needlestick injuries as a research project consultant in China, with similar searches ongoing in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea.
I do wanna apply for a phd programme in abroad and continue my research in the domains of IBS, Quality of life, acupuncture and how to use Chinese herbal medicine to prevent aging (I have learned regimen and rehabilitation for 5 years). Would you pleased to provide me some information about that?
Thank you very much and very warm regards!
Hi Puppy88
Welcome to the forum. It's fine for you to post your interests but there is little to be gained from posting the same message more than once.
To progress your search for a PhD I would advise you to identify the people currently working in your area of interest. As you already have research experience in your field you are probably already aware of many of the key research groups. Have you tried contacting them directly to see if they have any opportunities that might be suitable for you?
Good luck.
Puppy, you need to ask the University of Bath whether they have any specific funding for your project. From what you have said it sounds like they don't, but are suggesting that you apply for competitive funding such as ORS. You can get links and information relating to funding on the FindAPhD funding pages.
Well puppy, if the deadline is tomorrow maybe you still have a chance! Will it be easy for you to get references etc by then?
If you don't make it, well keep trying to find a PhD where there is funding. You shouldn't get "shamed" because you didn't know about the deadlines.
Goodluck
The prof of the Univ of Bath let me to apply in 2007. But I have got an email from University of London. The second prof told me my research is very interesting and he sent me his article.
I do not need to pay for the tuition and also he will provide me 1.4000 per year. The deadline is
But I do not have a TOEFL score.
Let me know how to do that.
Puppy, it sounds like you have an excellent chance of a funded studentship at London. If you do not have TOEFL then speak to the supervisor at London or speak to the international student office at the University, they will be the best people to comment on your individual case. PhDs are all about being pro-active and showing initiative so go for it!
Good luck :o)
You will need an English language qualification to study in a UK university. TOEFL and IELTS are the most common. For our article on English Language Qualifications visit www.findaphd.com/students/english.asp
