Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has been in the position of being given an extension for their master's dissertation when they've been due to start their phd? If so did this effect you at all?
I've had a horrible summer and wrote the the head of the school to explain and ask if I could have a couple of weeks to make sure my write up is good. I've lost about a month and a half of dissertation time and things are still not ideal for getting things done but am almost there. The head of school granted me the extension but that gives me another 2 months (as its a standard extension for dissertation). I did ask if this would affect my starting my phd but he didn't acknowledge it :s
My problem is I'm not sure how to approach it with my supervisor who is excitedly emailing me things to think about before the start of term. I'm going to get it done within 2 weeks of the deadline but don't want to start on a bad note!
The phd is in my current university and they've been aware of the issue in the past. Sadly this just coincided with my dissertation and should be much better in 2-3 weeks.
If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it :)
Hi,
I am currently trying to finish the data collection part of my dissertation and would really appreciate it if you would do my questionnaire. It will take about 10-12 minutes and I'd appreciate it so much!

If you have a questionnaire you'd like me to do in return let me know :)
Thank you!
Hi,
Thanks for all the help! I am hoping when I get all the details it'll be ok.
Mackem_Beefy - It was said on the advert that you are responsible to pay fees and do a certain number of teaching hours. Feels like too much of a stretch financially the more I think about it. I was expecting it to be tight but it'd be less that I'd anticipated.
Hi everyone,
I've been offered a studentship at £13,000 but would need to pay almost 4k per year in fees to do it. I really want to accept but feel as though I need to make sure I can survive for 3-4 years!
Have you managed in this way? I've emailed to ask if I can have a job on the side of this so hope they say if it doesn't interrupt the uni work it'll be ok. Its a bit scary to commit for so long!
Hi,
I'm just completing my Master's research proposal but really want to apply for a PhD as soon as possible so I have some sort of chance of getting on a course.
Do you write a different proposal for each application for a Phd? If you want to change the focus after application I guess you can't?
Hi,
I've noticed I've missed so many deadlines for studentships and I'm really anxious I won't find funding for this year. Do more come about over the next couple of months or is that it?
My uni has never mentioned funding or how we'd go about it and as I've been too busy to apply for far with several operations over the past few months, exams and deadlines I am really stressed.
