I have been studied Phd for 1 year before joining this research institute. Currently, I work full time and pay for my own Phd tuition in an unknown university. After the probation, my boss asked me to drop out of my current Phd program. He offered to give me a Phd scholarship in a UK top university. However, there are two drawn back conditions 1.) I have to drop out of my current program and focusing on work in this organization for 2 years before getting the scholarship. 2.) The Phd degree is not related to my education background or interests. Therefore, I politely decline my boss offers.
In the past year, he constantly asked me to quit my current Phd program and taking his offers. I informed him that “I would like to focus on my current Phd Program” but he does not seem to care about my current education. He gave me so much work, it is so overwhelmed. I informed him a few times that the workload is way too much and my Phd is so suffering. He claimed he understands, but nothing has changed. I used to cry in front of him due to stress, burnt out, and disappointment. He made the situation worst when he sent me to work for this project where everyone has resigned and no one want to work for this project. I am now handling this project alone without a clear direction with a new supervisor.
Now, I have worked here for a year and am in my third year in Phd. Although, my organization is high profile in my country and the seniors here seems to support and give me a good opportunity to learn and grow. However, my Phd is very suffered due to too much workload. I am so unhappy and have not talked to my boss in the past month. It is so sad because we used to be a good working relationship and now I am at the point of resigning. I am wondering whether I am stupid that not taking his offers and want to resign from my job.

I got the best job ever, however too much work and now so unhappy. Please advice.
I called off sick today because I am so unhappy with my work situation.
It is too much work and I cannot cope with it while doing my phd. I
have been confronted my boss multiple times that I cannot just working
12 hours and more everyday and not having time to study. He kept saying
that he understand and will give me less work but he always does the
opposite by giving me more work, I feel so unhappy and dissatisfied
with my work, school, and life.
My boss has a phd and he said that he understand my situation. Can you believe my thesis are not moving at all in the past 6 months. I will have a qualifying exam soon. I don't have to to study. What should I do?
Can you believe sometimes I thought I am getting depressed or will have
a mental breakdown
Hello Murt!
Wow, we are in an exact same boat. I am also a second year student in management and working full-time. I was also working in non-profit, American NGO and was also conducting my thesis in non-profit governance. However, I just got a funding from ministry and must change my thesis topic to somewhat healthcare related. Well, what can I do! I need the money, cannot really afford to pay for the research.
Anyway, please hang in there! Your hard work will pay off. My strategy is to study at night after work and weekend. I am also very weak in research method. Please don't panic, we will learn along the way. Take care!
Dear all:
I am a business management student in Asian country. I have just finished my courseworks and will take QE exam in March. Then, I will defend my research proposal. However, I just got a funding from Ministry of Health to do research on health policy (focus on social determinants of health). They will provide me an mentor while doing my research.
I don't know much about healthcare, I am wondering how can I conduct my research on management + health focus on social determinants of health. In your opinion, is it doable? Any ideas on this?
Well, my previous research proposal is focus on organizational culture and commitment. I would like to use it in the new proposal. I am wondering how can I relate it to social determinants of health. Thus, I don't waste my time :(
Please help me if you have some ideas. I am really appreciated it.

Dear all:
First of all, I apologize for the grammar error, English is my second language.
Anyway, I am a 25-year old Phd student. I am now working in a research and development institute. My job is a research assistant, but my role is totally different. My job is almost like an assistant of a director. I accompany the director to various big meetings such as UN Global forum, National Conferences, and WHO Regional Meetings in various countries. Yes, I enjoy attending those events. However, I feel different than others. The other research assistants (they are not yet Phd students, they are workers) are doing field works, analyze data, or write proposal. Sometimes, I feel like I am missing out something or will miss some opportunities. As they are learning alot about doing research. On other hand, I am spending all my time attending these meetings and writing meeting reports.
I have been working here for 4 months. I went to 2 countries and attend 6-8 regional conferences in development and 1 global conference. At the same time, no progresses on my dissertation and don't learn much about research.
Yes, my priority is to finish Phd as soon as possible, but I do not want to work as a researcher or professor. I think I want to be an international expert or a director of some organizations. Do you think my roles are good for me at the moment. Shall I tell my boss to allow me to do some work on research in stead of attending the big events?
Please advice. Sometimes, I am so confusing and even crying myself to bed. Please advice. I guess I am young and don't know what to do with my life. Please help me and many thanks.

A CAUSAL MODEL OF CULTURE, CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOR, COMMITMENT, AND ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS IN THE DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION
Culture = Organizational Culture
Citizenship behavior = Organizational Citizenship Behavior
Commitment = Organizational Commitment
They are all in the organization devlopment context!
I want to investigate the causal relationship among those variables how it influence one another and finally how it influences organizational effectiveness. Those main variables have their own dimensions.
Is it too wide and much variables? Please help me. I have been changing topic many times already!

Topic is an impact of equity of health care system on organizational culture, organizational comittment, and organizational effectiveness.
Well, I am changing my thesis topic again due to career change. I am now working for health care and my job is to conduct research on equity of health care. Meanwhile, I am a Phd student in Management. I don't want to waste too much time. Thus I mix both fields together.
However, I am wondering whether the topic is approachable? Any suggestion. Please help me and thanks always :)

I just got a job offer from ministry of public health as a research assistant position. I have no work experience or education in health care. However, they are still offering me the position because I am a bilingual and phd student in Management.
On the second interview, my supervisor shared a rough idea of my duties and responsibilities. My supervisor has MD/Phd degrees--I am so happy he accepted me as his research assistant. He is a bit worried about my education background and work experience that not related to health care. He claimed it takes sometimes for me to learn.
He said, I have to work with him in three projects and also helping on administrative tasks. He asked me whether I am willing to perform those tasks. I said, YES. Then, he also requested me to visit the office on Monday-Wednesday to attend pre-employment observation. I said, okay and also tell him to feel free to send some files for me to learn about the project.
He sent me a project file and asked me to read it carefully. I told him that it is an interesting project. He said he is glad and also happy that I will go to office on Monday Then, he asked me to visit the website and will talk with me on Monday. I will be officially start working on August 1.
How should I do on Monday, first day officially meeting with my supervisor for our workplan/job description? What else should I prepare/bring?
P.S. This is a full-time job position, it is not related to my phd school. However, I will later try to connect the two things together :)

I am enrolling in Doctor of Business Degree. It is my second years and all courseworks will be done in the next 2 months. I will be focusing on business research.
I just resigned from my full-time job and now looking for a new job. I have had an interview with Public Health for a research position on Alcohol studies. They seem interested because I was only sending my resume and covered letter. Then, they sent me government application format and asked me to an interview next day. There are 3 interview panels: Director (Medical Doctor), Researcher (Health Professional Research), and HR.
They asked me some general questions and asked me to conduct research on the spot. I also submitted my dissertation proposal, they read it and they said conceptual framework is not good, but they can tell I have worked hard on it. The research director said, not to give me any fault hope, but I am not qualified for the research job due to no experience, skills, and knowledge on research and health. However, the director like my attitudes and motivation. Then, he asked me about salary. I said, it up to them. Then, the director gave me the amount of salary. Next day, they called me for a second interview with different medical doctor, but I said I was so busy with my current job this week due to training. Then, they postponed my interview to this Monday at the areas near my house. They said, the medical doctor will go around the areas so I can meet him there. Well, it seems like they are interested in me, though I am not qualified for this job. During the interview I told them I want to work there because I want to become professor and I know professor need strong research skills. Moreover, I am now studying Phd and need to conduct research. Therefore, this job would compliment my current education and future careers.
P.S. I am a second year Doctor of Business student who has no experience in research. How can I pursue those research experts to hire me for a researcher position for Public Health.
Sorry, English is my second language. I will do research in my home country, not an English speaking country.
Dear Keenbean:
Thank you so much for your advice. I already requested for a week off, but no approval from my supervisor. I can take a leave at the end of July and I will.
Moreover, I will talk to my parent to night and will resign from my job. I could not take it anymore. I am young and learnt a lot from my first job experience in this organization-good and bad. It's enough for me.
Once again thank you so much. Please take care!
Best regards.
Jun
Dear all:
Maybe it is a quarter life crisis. I am working fulltime and studying full time Phd program for 2 years. I have been juggling in the past 6 months. School is going great! However, my work sucks, many people quitted due to lack of direction, no job security, office politics, and bad leadership. I am so stressed and tired, but hang on to the job because of need the money for phd tuition.
However, I am now at my wit-ended. I really want to quit the job. I wish I have the money to pay for my school without working. I want to focus on my school work, but research funding are quite difficult in my country.
Oh, I just turn 25 and am so overwhelmed with many expectations and everything..
Sorry English is my second language!
So tired today! :(

Hi all:
I am a second year Phd student-now working fulltime to pay for my phd.
I was a graduate assistant while studied for my Master. The college stipend (9 USD per hours/20 hours per week) did not enough to pay for my housing and food. I had to work two jobs to pay for living expenses. I lived in Washington DC-quite expensive city.
I don't have any student loans or debts, but always in a tight budget. I could not afford travelling or doing fun stuff with my peers.
I am expected to graduate around age of 28. I will have no savings. I always compare myself to my friends-they are working/saving for family/having fun with their boyfriends. However, I cannot afford to do anything. I want to have family and children in the future. However, I cannot see that road yet.
I enjoy enrolling in the Phd, but just stress finacially. Do you have the same problems? Any words of encouragement ^_^
Sorry English is my second language.

English is my second language! I am sorry for any grammar errors :)
I am working full-time and enrolling in full-time DBA program. It's quite difficult!
However, I am trained since I was working full-time while obtaining my undergraduated and graduated degrees.
Time management is very essential. To be honest, I spend 8 hours working and 4 hours studying daily. I am very practical and focus on my goals so other tasks are not my priority at the moments. Thankfully, I am young so no family issues. My friends are very supportive and they actually quite busy as well. Therefore, I don't have to worry about social life--just hang out with family and close friends once in a while :)
