Hi,
You'll have to excuse my ignorance but I've only recently started looking at the actual PhD application process.
I'm looking to start a PhD in Autumn 2012.
I have found a couple of advertised projects that sound really interesting and that I think I'd be an asset to.
The two opportunities that I have found both state that they are awaiting a funding decision/possible external funding "This supervisor does not yet know if funding is available for this project, or they intend to apply for external funding once a suitable candidate is selected."
Do I need to apply for a studentship/funding seperatly or just apply for course and tick the box "studentship" in the funding section.
Also, I'd be interested in finding out more about the project, is it the norm to contact the supervisor prior to applying?
Finally, as it is a specific project advertised, does this mean I don't need to send a research proposal with my application?
I'm finding the whole application process a little daunting. Any advice is appreciated!
Regards
Katie
