Hey everyone

My abstract has been accepted in a large confrence that will be held in August this summer .. due to lack of fund i wont be able to attend. The abstract will be published in the congress proceedings at an international peerreviewed journal. Can i register without attending the conference in order my abstract appears in the proceedings? any comments will be appreciated. thanks

well ... every conference has two sessions ... miscro-symposias (oral presentation) and poster sessions. Usually poster sessions come between oral prsentation sessions. In the conference i attended there were 200 posters presented ... during poster sessions and tea/lunch breaks i was just going around pretending that i am interested in knowing more about others work ... so try to find the way that you can merge/blend between people

once i attended an international symposium in Turkey where i presented a poster. I travelled alone. I was also worried about how to approach people. During the conference i was all the time beside my poster ... as you know people come and go ... i tried to talk to any one who try to have a look at my poster and intiate a conversation ... from where you are ... is my poster subject of any interest and so on .. also i tried to go around to alook at posters and try to ask the presenter about his work ... just passing time

Why bother !!! ... focus on your PhD ... you dont need to put more load/stress yourself by thinking about their relationship unless it is directly affecting you!!!

Ph.D = Perminant Health Deterioration/Disorder
Ph.D = is a good chance/apportunity (3 years course)
to learn what depression, lonley and stress are really mean!

Hi tricky .. i understand your point clearly ! well i am an independent researcher ... and i am doing separate research away from my main decipline. I am a protein crystallographer .. and i have an interest in organic chemistry in which my manuscript/paper i am intending to publish is all about. The point is from doing that, giving a paper for a prof in org. chem. to read it, to minimize the chances in rejecting the paper !!!

Hey everyone .. i would like to have your openion about something. I am preparing a paper and i have finished the manuscript ready for submission. Due to the fact that i am still recent in term of the field that i would like to publish in i though to seek help from some professors who are experts in the field to read it for me b4 submission and at the same time put him as an author in the paper.
Do you rekon doing that or it is risky that it can be taken?

Well ... maybe ur right ... shall i say " English people in General" .. it is not perfect i agree. I went to Italy-Rome: they are not so welcomed. Holland-Amsterdam: cold ... u dont feel welcomed as well. France-Paris: nice people, i enjoied their company. US-Minisotta: i am recent- two weeks .. looks promising. I have to say that what i have experienced is not/should not be as a role.

Do you know what i like in England ... "Respect" ... people treat each other with respect and smile ... not like what i experienced in other European countries. I dont know what about america (i am now here to find out!) !!! so learn decipline in england .. you wont loose anything ... actually you will get more civilized .. (NO offence).

OK then it is ur chance to have a walk/break to find some vending machine to have chilled Diet Coke for 90p to chill you up ...

Gosh .. you remind me with that phd girl who she was in my group. She had a very strong ties with my supervisour and this reflected my relations with my supervisour. She was so b***h when i do good work and show it to my supervisour, she tried to give an impression to my supervisour that i didnt do the work and she helped me in doing it (behind my back). I really hated here but at the same time i ignored her and kept my good relations with my supervisour through producing good work. You have to live with it and no need to give it more than it deserves. There are many ways to grap your sup's attention, you have to find out how though!.
