When I applied for my PhD ( + fundings), I just gave my master's degree transcripts ! They didn't ask for the BA results ... or maybe they did, but I did not gave them as I was not happy about them ^^

I am looking for a job and on jobs.ac.uk for example, usually, the salary advertised is always given like this : £27,854 to £36,298 pa

What does it mean ?
Does it mean that when you starts, you will be at £27,854 and then you might be able to have an increase ?
or is it based on your qualifications ?

Hello Human, understand what you are going through as my sup. is a bit 'slow reading'/'too busy' as well ...
As Lughna said, I would just send him an email saying :
"Dear XX, I have just finished Chapters X, Y, Z. Would you like me to send them to you now or do you need more time to finish the other ones I gave you 3 months ago ?" :p Ah ah, my message might be a bit 'tough' but he needs to realise he is taking too long !!!

Don't worry about getting 'sacked' ! You won't ! Firstly because your supervisor is not the one judging your PhD ! So don't worry about that.

Here we have training sessions and one is about "how to deal with supervisor" :p and they clearly advised us to report it if anything was wrong ... because if it happens with you, it will happen with other students later.

In my uni :

_ the more the supervisor has PhD students to supervise, the less he/she has to teach modules.

One of my colleagues (PhD student) has co-written an article with his supervisor ... so it happens !

Sorry to hear you're having a bad time with your supervisor !

Do you have a 2nd supervisor or a mentor to whom you could report all this ? I guess, it would be a difficult/brave decision to have to report this to someone else, but at this point, I think you really have to do it. You need help and your supervisor is not doing her job at all !

I know that Universities take complaints of students really seriously so maybe if you write to the officer in charge of the PhD student, he/she could do something. But first, try 2nd sup or mentor.

Hope your PhD research is going well :p

In my university, those who are fully funded are for 3 years.
My question is : Have you been able to submit at the end of the 3rd year ?

In my department, there are 2 PhD students who were fully funded but they are in their 4th year at the moment. They are about to submit but they 'had' to take this 'continuation year' (for which they did not have to pay the fees but they don't get any fundings anymore).
I am in my 2nd year and really hope I will submit at the end of the 3rd year. However, PhD colleagues in their 3rd year (at the moment) have not finished writing yet and they also plan to submit in their 4th year. They told me that it is usually the way it is, and that it is almost impossible to submit at the end of the 3rd year. (humanities, languages).

What is your opinion/experience about this ?

I hope to have many advice and sorry if my message was not really clear.
