I don't know about courses but having been to Warwick they have some really good Media societies which are easy to get involved with which may provide some good experience/contacts. The radio station has won quite a few national awards and i'm fairly sure the same goes for the paper and the tv soc too. The new SU which is being built at some point is also set to have a brand new media centre as well.
If you do a search on the forums there's been a couple of discussions on mortgages. I think the general impression is that many people have a similar experience and find it difficult however there is a chance you just have to get lucky with the bank and the person dealing with your application at the bank. I think getting parents to act as guarantors can help from what I remember reading.
Have you fully investigated other programs? I only ask because when I was applying for my Masters I thought I'd only apply to my favourite choice without actaully looking further than websites and brochures for the other options. In the end it took so long for my application to get processed I got worried and applied else where just in case. I then got invited to go to an interview at my second choice and as it turned out I actually prefered what was originally a fall-back option and turned down my original 'dream' choice.
I know Lancaster has a Msc in Project Management http://www.findamasters.com/search/showcourse.asp?cour_id=3541" target="_blank">http://www.findamasters.com/search/showcourse.asp?cour_id=3541 and that has some Alumni profiles which might give some insight into the course.
