BilboBaggins, thanks for the reply! I have already had a conversation with my supervisor, it seems like there is no way to change the research direction. The worst thing is that in our department there are no potential supervisors with the research that I could be interested in. So the only way for me is to change the institution.
Hi everyone,
I'm currently an international PhD student in a Canadian University. I have started my PhD program just a month ago. My Master was obtained not in Canada.
It seems like the proposed research direction from my supervisor does not completely satisfy me. So I think about changing the institution. But I'm not sure, how to do it? Should I tell my supervisor that I'm going to leave this university? Or just when I get the admission from another university, I just leave and that's it?
I think that it might me a good idea to complete at least one semester in my current university, to have some academic record in a Canadian instituition, and maybe I even would be able to get references from the profs in this university. Is that right?
Please help with any advice.
Thanks!
