Hi all,
I have recently been offered a postdoc opportunity in one of the labs/institutes I would like to work in. This will be my first postdoc and the project itself is very interesting and related to my previous experiences (both PhD and industrial).
The supervisor offered me second increment in Grade 7 which I accepted on phone. Then the HR sent me an email asking about my current wage so we can negotiate the salary. In the meantime, I realized that this university has a wider range for grade 7 towards the lower end and what I was offered is actually grade 6 in other universities.
I replied to HR stating my current salary and also emailed the supervisor asking if I could start from 3rd increment as the salary I was offered correspond to grade 6 in my current university and I have a relevant PhD to the topic and a year spent in industry.
It has been a almost a week so far and I haven't heard from the HR or the PI of the project yet (I knew that the PI would be away until the end of next week).
How do you think I should proceed? Should I just wait or send another email to HR? The post will not start until after summer.
