Hi everyone,
I am delighted to share with you the details of the 2nd International Marketing Conference which will be taking place at the University of Edinburgh Business School on the 4th and 5th of December 2014.
The overarching purpose of the conference is to provide an opportunity for fruitful dialogue between PhD students, experienced academic staff and industry professionals from the field of Marketing.

We look forward to seeing you in Edinburgh!

I know what u mean Jayney... all the years of hard work and then you end up in the same position again. Unless you are a science PhD graduate and huge corporations hire you for their research, you have pretty much the same career prospects as before doing the PhD (outside of academia of course). But as long as you enjoy doing it, it's all worth it I think!
Hi all,
I was just wondering if any of you know exactly what you'll be doing after you have finished your PhDs? And if you are not sure what are your plans anyway? Staying in academia or going on to industry? Or maybe taking a year out? Was looking at job prospects for PhD graduates...it all seems very tight and competitive!
Hey argonk,
If you decide to go to Galway be prepared to face the depressing weather. I never thought weather could influence me in any way untill I moved to Ireland 3 years ago. I moved to Cork where the weather isn't as bad as in Galway but believe me...I got depressed just from the bad weather. Of course you get used to it after a while (took me about 10 months) but at the start it can be quite difficult to get used to the constant rain.
I spent the last year in Germany and I'm moving back to Cork in September for one or two more years and I'm already annoyed that I'll have to face rain every single day and sit in college pretty much soaked throughout the day. But I still enjoy it and don't regret choosing Ireland :)
Hey all,
I'm new to this forum and it's my first post!!! yaaaaay :) I'm almost finished my BComm degree and considering doing a PhD straight after that. I read loads of the topics on this forum and it really helps in deciding what I should do :)
I was wondering however, if you have time just for yourself, i.e. go to the cinema, or for a pint, do some sports or just spend time with you other half every day? I really don't want to neglect any of this, the little things in life while doing a PhD. So do you find time every day for yourself and other people?
