I've applied for a Wellcome Trust 4-year PhD program at University of Birmingham as well as applying directly to the supervisor themselves. I've been invited to stage 1 interviews, which include preparing a 5 minute presentation, a 10 minute interview where I have to critique a scientific paper, and both a written and practical skills test. I'll also be touring the facility so I'll have a chance to ask questions too.
Has anyone been through this stage of interviews with the Wellcome Trust before? What should I expect? I'm most worried about the written test - it says it will test my scientific acumen, tangential thinking, calculation and data analysis. I can usually get by with my maths can calculations, but it's definitely not my strong point.
Any advice?
