myself shashi,did ma masters in MICROELECTRONICS from indian institute of technology.presently workin in a chip design firm(india).well, i would atleast answer half of ur question.masters in VLSI is definately a gud choice,provided u have basics.Here in india jobs are plenty provided ur from gud university, same case with USA too.once u start ur masters u will definately know various fields in vlsi and scope,but just dont worry jobs are plenty in the market for a VLSI graduate.stay positive,gud luck.
