Chi-Squared

Hi Catalinbond,

it's been a while but if I remember correctly, degrees of freedom are the product (r1 - 1) * (r2 - 1) * ... * (rn - 1) where n is the number of independent variables and rk is the number of bins of variable k. In your case 21 * 21 = 441. However, are you sure the software returns chi square value and not the probability of obtaining the value given your data?

Does anyone actually use/understand Endnote?

Hi,

It may seem a strange advice to your problems but I would suggest switching from Word to LaTeX. You would not have to worry about "anything while you write" ever again. Once you learn it. And you would still make use of EndNote if you wish and already paid for it. The advantages are numerous (even for people who do not use maths as is quite common misconception) and disadvantages few (steep learning curve and problematic cooperation on a same document with people who do not know it). I do not know anybody who has looked back to Word, or any word-processing software for that matter. Give it a go, it may be hard at first but if you have at least a few years in academia ahead it is ultimately worth it. For me, the writing is necessary evil but using the proper tools makes it just a little bit more bearable.

Which university to go for

Hi Archana,

Many universities offer taught postgraduate courses aimed at students who may not have studied computer science so far but who are keen to acquire core computing skills. And there are many universities in London: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_universities_and_higher_education_colleges_in_London

The cost differs significantly between the institutions but, as an overseas student, you are looking at £9k+ minimum and possibly £20k+ for the MSc. I'm afraid that you won't get any financial help towards the fees here. Perhaps some grant from India? But I can't help with those.

I'd suggest to have a look at Birkbeck, University of London. They specialise on evening higher education, and as such they provide primarily for mature students who study part-time and fall into the cheaper bracket. You would be able to finish the part-time Master's degree in two years which would mean fees of approximately £5k a year.

Good luck!
