I am a PhD candidate awaiting my viva. I am going to attend a conference soon, and I know that my external examiner will also be there. In this case, should I avoid any contact with the examiner at all costs? Should I even refrain from something like greetings or expressing gratitude for accepting the responsibility of the examiner? For your information, we have met each other several times at previous conferences, although we didn't chat much.
