It is quite surprising that your supervisor is interested in minutest details. Please check if he is really interested in your research topic and wants to carry out any research with you.

That's why it would be lot better to spend some time in industry or doing a job before embarking on a PhD? And yet again, the motive for PhD should be pursuance of your interest and knowledge and may be this can later help in avoiding job search blues.

Once I actually came across a place where this was actually the case :).

But why do you assume schooling system or curriculum is responsible for gender and race inequality? It may involve other factors e.g. societal values, upbringing pattern and so many other things. Do you also plan to suggest bring deal with this inequality?

There is something wrong somewhere in this whole thing. You must be in communication with you supervisor and examiners and seek the reasons of failure, if this is really the case you think.

Anybody, having this information? Or may I search it and send it to you here?

This forum is a bit of help when you are doing phd and research, but isn't it a sort of distraction as well?

I think this is a good idea and you should discuss it with professors and your supervisors in your department.

Have your examiners declared you fail or are these just your apprehensions? You may need to talk to and be in communication with your supervisor and examiners to sort these matters out.

I am not familiar with education system in uk. So, cannot offer much advice to your problem. However, I can understand your desperation and confusion and can offer only sympathies.

Hello All

I am a new PhD student at a UK university having arrived from my country Pakistan and started previous fall 2013. This is a new experience for me and so far, this has been quite good. I have found the people here to be very nice and cooperative with a few exceptions which do exist everywhere. I also try to reciprocate in the same way, my shortcomings notwithstanding.

I am married and trying to cope with PhD along with my family life. I hope this forum would be a help in achieving my goal.
