Cheers Guys. I think I'll have been Panel 4 as I'm in 19th century history. However, as I'm an historian of science in a philosophy department, I'm not entirely sure - is there any way to find out? I've got 16 days 'til I hand in and have only written 5,000 words of my 15,000-word dissertation - I was so busy applying for jobs I put my MA work on the backburner. Now I'm stressed about work again instead of funding, and it's a much more pleasant experience!
Hey, I haven't posted on here before but I've been reading all the comments whilst sat writing my dissertation and waiting for a reply. Today came through a FLoJ for my PhD, and I'm ecstatic. Having failed two years running to get funding for my MA (I'm doing it now with a loan and a job), I had already taken a job offer as I felt sure I would never be chosen by the panel.
Stressed, and everyone else who gets a negative response: don't give up. I've spent the last 24 months in the presence of 'friends' who have funding for science/maths PhDs yet have poor grades and never do any work. I don't think there's anything as annoying or upsetting as someone who really wants and deserves to do a PhD being turned down whilst there is money being thrown away in other departments. Good luck also to everyone else waiting - I can't express how unbelievably rubbish I think this whole AHRC procedure is.
