HI Everyone..thanks for the reply..really appreciate it!
I'm now in the midst of identifying themes for my data..i'm just wondering on the process of the analysis...do I need to grouped them into BROAD theme first and then identify the SUB THEME? or do I need to Identify the SUB THEME first and then geouped them into teh BROAD theme?
Which one is the first step? DO you have any reference to support the procedure?
Thanks! :D
I'm sorry if i posted this in a wrong thread...i have a problem..
my thesis was a mix of quantitative and qualitative data and I have 2 internal and 2 external advisors . My external advisors are more into quantitative and qualitative data and my internal advisors are more towards technical stuff (computer stuff).
Hence, when I submit my draft on the quantitatve analysis, i did have some report on t-test, anova, etc. What my internal advisor asked me to do is to give a reference on what a t test , anoava, etc means. Reason being? She said she has not even heard about it and it would help other people to understand what t-tes anova blabla is. The thing is, I never actually came across anyone who explain or put a reference on the meaning of the statistical analysis...most of the paper would just say: e.g: t-test found there is no significant differemce balblablablabla instead of t-test (ref to any stat books) found there....
i dont know what to, can anyone give me some advice?
thanks!
HI..
i'm sorry if i posted this on a wrong thread..I really need an advice on this. I have 30 interviews data which I have trnscribed and I want to analyse it.
My problem is, how do I do that? I know that I can code it into themes based on what I found from teh literature...but i also found out that I could do confirmatory factor analysis (CFA).. I've read some books about it but most of them dit not discuss on open ended data but more towards scale data (e,g: likert scale). Does anyone have an idea on how should i do CFA on open ended data?
Thanks!
Hi,
Thanks for the feedbacks. What I meant is only my SV has the knowledge in this field..I got mix up with the word 'field' and 'topic'. Abt the lack of interest and direction, I don't expect to be spoon fed. But I do expect some advice and direction in my research.
I'm totally lost now.
:-(:-(
My sv doesn't seem to understand my topic. During meeting, she will just sit and occasionally jot down something. During my 'writing proposal period' she was away for 6 months, and she appointed a temporary sv for me, and the temporary sv has nothing to do with my topic (he even looked suprised when I approached him and told him that I'm under his temporary supervision).
My proposal has been approved and she appointed a second supervisor which is her husband. She told me that meetings will be done with her only and when I make a blurr face, she quickly added "and occasional meeting with your second sv as well".
I don't think her husband has any clue on my topic. It's been a year since I started my PhD and I don't even have a sngle meeting with my so-called second sv. During my firist 4 months, I've been thinking of approcahing new SV, but I'm just trying to be positive and told myself maybe my sv is trying to make me learn how to be independent.
A year has passed and I still have the thought of changing supervisor. Question is, is it too late to do so? If I change my supervisor, I might be changing my current topic as well as the other potential supervisor wouldn't know anything about my topic. Only my current SV has the knowledge of my current topic. Anyway, I seem to have lost interest in my current topic as well due to the lack of direction.
Any advice?
