are any other rejectees reapplying next year then? i think i'll make pretty much the same submission, maybe padded out with a bit more reading, and possibly a relevant language qualification. do you think the new block awards system next year will prove beneficial? maybe especially to those who took their first degrees at the institution? i hope so.

just rang them up, at first they gave me the standard party line (they will all be done by the end of next week) but after a little pressing, she revealed my letter has been generated! now it needs to be checked, and may be with me by the end of the week. i'm considering that progress. thanks for the advice Pallas, i know one should prepare for every eventuality but its so stressful, i know i wouldnt want to take time off work to sit through multiple interviews for jobs i cant have!

i'm panel 8 too Pallas, philosophy. i'll soon be ringing them for the third day in the row, since my partner doesnt want to start attending interviews for jobs in the area until she knows my letter has at least been generated! so thats an extra stress!

well obviously i caved and rang again, and whereas yesterday they told me my letter had generated, this time they said they dont know whether or not it has, and "not to panic until the end of the month." yeah, thanks for that.

i'm with Soarous, i'm not ringing them again until friday. and if it hasnt been generated then, i WILL be upset. until then im going to do my best to forget about it, despite all the preparations im making for both going and not going. although naturally i'll still come here 3 times a day to share in your pain!

you may as well really. at least i know its not going to come tomorrow now, so i dont have to bother worrying then. although in reality, nervously ringing my mum will likely be replaced with nervously ringing the ahrc. every day.

there seems to be at least one person succesful each day now! who will be next? no post for me today. i'm preparing myself for rejection by looking into alternative careers, and trying to get myself excited about those!

ring them up Pamplemousse, i'd love to hear what they say! I emailed them but received a predictable response, I think you'd have a better chance with phoning though! they wouldnt tell you your result, but they might tell you whether its been posted or not!

congrats to our latest success stories, and I hope you can get alternate funding stressed. as people have said, it seems if you can fund the first year then you seem to have a fair chance of getting the rest funded.

as an unpleasant development in my own case, my uni have offered me the accommodation i want, but i have to reply by august 18th or theyll give it to someone else. thanks, ahrc!

i emailed the person responsible for panel 8 but predictably he sent me a generic "we cannot reveal anything" response.

got my mum to open my mail over the phone, but brief excitement turned to disappointment when it was just a bank statement. now i'll prolly be vaguely depressed until this time tomorrow.
