I agree that MA in history in not a popular choice but that doesn't mean that you should discard the course. If you are really interested in MA History, I believe you should do it. It might be slim pickings in terms of job scenario, but that doesn't mean you wont find jobs. Believe in your dreams and take the leap of faith.
Hi there!
A motivation letter, or cover letter in other words, should be personal, short (if possible), and to-the-point. Here are some tips that might help:
1. Start with who you are and what is the intent of writing the letter. Let the introduction be a summary of what the letter is all about. Include a line on why you like the course.
2. The next paragraph should talk about why you want to enroll for the program in that particular University (best thing about the university that makes you want to be a part of it).
3. In this paragraph, talk about your qualities (strengths) and qualifications and why you want to pursue XYZ course.
4. Conclude by reiterating your interest in pursuing the course in that particular university. Thank them for taking time out to read your letter and say how eager you're to hear from them.
These are some basic things. There are many templates online that help you with the outline.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
