Wow! Well, with odds like that - how CAN I lose?! Sod this, no more thesis writing for me. I'm off to the local casino to gamble all my worldly possessions (including the cat) See you later when I'm rich! x
p.s. will give you a 10% cut for the suggestion. Will be a mere drop the ocean of my richness for me! haha!
Oh my God!! I can't believe this! I have only just read the whole thing. This is absolutely ridiculous. She cannot justify her actions and throwing insults back at the group from afar (whilst holding her other sup's hand) is not going to save her dignity. She'll never be able to work in science again at this rate. What a scared, deluded little girl.
BHC - I hope you are OK, it's unfair that you are having to deal with this as you've done nothing wrong.
It'll all come out in the wash, it always does, although sometimes it takes a while. I bet that once she's gone, you'll probably find that no-one trusted her or that everyone thought she was a bully. Strange how people speak up later on...
Good Luck, stay strong, and keep us updated! x
Thanks guys for the replies... I'm now going to (a) buy a lottery ticket (or 1000) and (b) check out the sites you suggested. I have a feeling I'll be eating Asda special price baked beans and cardboard for a couple of months. A couple of acorns maybe, to get my 5-a-day too. Oh well. It's worth it, RIGHT??!?! :-| lol
..Eek! Would anyone have any clues as to what kind of funding bodies might just help me out while I'm writing up?
I'm planning on getting a job (either temping or full time demonstrating) and saving like mad - but I'm not sure if it'll be enough! (don't get the wrong idea -I'm not exactly living the life of Riley!!)
Someone, somewhere, mentioned something about 'women in science' (which is me) but I can't find anything, even with a furious amount of googling!
Any ideas guys?!
p.s. Arghhh!
Just wondering, what did everyone do before starting their phd?
(i.e jobs, masters', undergrad, travelling..?)
I came straight from undergrad. I now think this was a bad move for me - maybe I should have got a job and gained experience. Ah, hindsight is a wonderful thing!
Wondering if anyone has any good advice... Just started phd (3 months in) and finding that my supervisor is being incredibly critical of everything I do, I can't seem to do anything right - and it seems to be just me, the other students get on fine with her. She has mentioned the 10-month 'probationary period' twice to me now and I'm wondering whether I should just cut my losses now or keep on trying. I've done some really good purification experiments recently and am pretty clued up on everything I'm doing, I know I'm not being stupid but it can't be normal to do 11 hour days and come home crying almost every night. Just feel like am trying so hard but hitting a brick wall. I will speak to my second supervisor tomorrow. Anyone else had horrible experiences? Help!
