Hi I am trying to add alphanumeric codes & codes beginning with 0 (zero) for some of my participants. SPSS is not recognising codes that begin with a letter (eg A3456) and if a code begins with zero (eg 01234), it knocks the 0 off.
Is there anyway to retain the alphabets and zeros while entering data?
Thanks in advance for your help
Hi guys
Thanks soooooooo much for your wonderful replies. And thanks too for your support. I am glad to see you understand my frustration! I love the mechanic analogy and I think it may work well with a few people. Peljam, I will start to ignore the idiots (for being idiots). And Stressed, I'll support you big-time if you ever make an appearance on the 6pm news
Cheers

Hi guys... I am in my second yr of full-time PhD and a full time mum to a toddler. Although balancing the two can be challenging, this is a choice I have made for myself and it is not my intention to prove to the world that I am a wonder-mom or anything of the kind. I dont expect people to salute me for doing a phd either. But I just dont know how to deal with those losers who say "what?? all this hard work and you wont even be a real doctor"... urrrggghhh.. Any ideas on handling such comments well will be appreciated.
