Hi SGAD,
I completed my PGCE in 2012 (Secondary though) and not sure if your Primary/Secondary. I know the entry requirements was a minimum of a 2:2 at the time that I done my PGCE, however I have heard ones being accepted with a third however that was down to many places being available on some courses. I studied at Uni of Worcester and would suggest to ring around as many as possible ASAP as there may be still vacant places on some courses that Uni's are struggling to fill.
If not successful, on this route I would directly ask admissions what additional experience you may need - some may ask for a Masters to supplement your Undergrad Degree. I can feel how passionate you are and have no doubt that you will be a great teacher. Many students who I know got 2:2 made fab teachers - it was just something at the end after Graduation that I realised just wasn't for me.
Hope you get something and as I say ring, ring, ring and ring again!! A door will open :)

Hi Adrienne,
I am so sorry to hear of your experiences. I have just applied for a PT self-funded PhD and would completely disregard the 'preference for MSc students' - of course a Masters can help prepare you for the study at PhD level but I know many who have been successful without a Masters. In fact, I only have 60 Masters credits and am applying for a PhD based on my experiences of PGCE for my research topic.
You are a keen student and that must be respected. I would approach the Head of the School and discuss how you are feeling. I always read that ownership must be given and assumed by the writer but of course you need advice and feedback like everyone else. Please don't let anyone underestimate your ability - you got fully funded as they must have seen your potential. I know you feel like your in a no-win situation but I would definitely organise a meeting with the Head of School who can possibly transcend to your Supervisors or support you to find an alternative Supervisor in the School. Ignore the negativity and grab this opportunity as it is yours!!
Hope you can get the support you deserve and like everyone else deserve.
Best,
J
Hi all,
I am seeking advice regarding the PhD programme. In 2011 I completed my BSc (Hons) which was followed by a PGCE in 2012. I wrote a proposal and easily found a Supervisor at another local Uni to Supervise. Quite quickly she mapped out the project and has a team in mind which I am thrilled about of course.
I have chose to apply part time (self-funding) as I need to work full time for my mortgage, council rates etc. If part time, how many hours should I need to spend on research on a weekly basis?
Any advice welcome and appreciated :)
