It is probably because most of the people posting are feeling depressed and those who are ok don't post...yes it is stressfull, yes it is hard but most of us (well students around me at least) are still liking it... I don't always enjoy the pressure but I like the research part and the goal of understanding better a certain topic or problem...nobody is forcing us to do phd...we should be doing this first for ourselves!!!
there should be a post "happy phd"
I had the exact same problem with my director!! I even prepare the presentation or poster he was presenting in congress without me there!!! I had to do something so I push a little more and I talked to other person going to the same congress I wanted to go to and I tried to found some possible travel awards to help manage the cost (I don't know what field...your in...maybe there ain't any)... and then he had to let me go....and finally did
you will go some day...be proactive!!! don't give up
I would wait for the reviewer's comment...there is good chance they will notice those things...and if they don't well keep them in mind for your next paper unless those informations drastically change what you report in your paper....good luck with those reviews!!!
Can you report your exam ? But even if you don't I'm sure everybody will understand the situation and still see your potentiel
Is it that hard to study in another country? I'm half way through my PhD and I'm looking to do a post-doc in the UK....is it being realistic?
